Vidya Balan is an Indian actress who appears in Bollywood movies. She was born on January 1st,1978 in Palakkad,Kerala,India. Balan's father P.R. Balan who was a Vice President of ETC Channel and her mother is a housewife. She has an elder sister named Priya . 
Vidya Balan first began her career in many music videos. And first time she appeared in the Malayalam film Chakram alongside with Mohanlal. But this movie was not released.After that she was signed for a Tamil film directed by N.Linguswamy. She was acted along with R.Madhavan. But for some reasons she was dropped after a first schedule and her character was replaced by Meera Jasmine. When Chakram was restarted with Meera Jasmine who was chosen ahead of Balan again with Prithviraj. And again she was dropped from her second Tamil movie Manasellam opposite Srikanth . But Trisha Krishnan was replaced on behalf of Balan because of her non performance.
After that she turned to television advertising. From the year 1998 onwards she appeared in number of television adds and many of her adds were directed by Pradeep Sarkar.She also did many supporting roles in music videos with singers and bands such as Euphoria, Shubha Mudgal and Pankaj Udhas.And she also acted in the role of Radhika Mathur in a few episodes of the first season of mega hit serial Hum Paanch but later Amita Nangia was replaced in the place of Balan at the end of the first season.
And later she performed in many movies Guru,Salaam -e-Ishq, Eklavya, Heyy Babyy.In the year 2007 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa in the year 2007 did very well at the box office. And her recent movie Paa released in the year 2009. She acted opposite with Abhishek Bachan .This movie was hit movie in the box office.
