The Three Musketeers TV spot. One for All & all for flying Warships and cannon bombs...

Ok then, with the Miyazaki Airships (literally Air –SHIPS)looking like a Musketeer’s era S.H.I.E.L.D Hellicarrier and ‘Gatling’ cannons, this is not looking like  an extremelyfaithful  and ‘realistic’ adaptation ofthe Alexandre Dumas classic; but it sure looks like a fn one. Well if youdiscount the horrendous Take that video and intro many of us have beensubjected to before our late summer cinema viewing.

I’ve lost count of the number of times this story has beenadapted, Dogtanian still rules all!, but the fact is that it really is a greatstory, action, drama, romance, suspense the story even has a moral core.Hopefully they’ve kept enough of the core quality of the story to build theircrazy action movie anachronisms around. If not, hey air-(war)ships and MilaJovovich kicking ass can’t be all bad can it? Plus remember, we can always readthe book, even if we don’t like the movie.

Studio words...
“Based on Alexandre Dumas' classic novel comes a big-screenaction adventure update of The Three Musketeers, conceived and shot instate-of-the-art 3D.

They are known as Porthos, Athos, and Aramis-three elitewarriors who serve the king of France as his best Musketeers. After discoveringan evil conspiracy to overthrow the King, the Musketeers come across a young, aspiring hero - D'Artagnan - and take hi under their wing. Together, the fourembark onn a dangerous mission to foil the plot that not only threatens thecrown, but the future of Europe itself.

The Three Musketeers stars Logan Lerman, Mila JovovichmMatthew MacFayden, Ray Stevenson, Luke Evans, Mads Mikelson, Gabriela Wilde,James Corden, Juno Temple, Freddie Fox with Orlando Bloom and Christoph Waltz.”

Christophe Waltz, Ray Stevenson and Mila Jovovich seemperfectly cast to me and this fantasy version of the tale shows promise. Thecast, setting and classic nature of the story (the source story) should givethe film pretty big prospects at the international box office; especially withPaul W. S. Anderson’s “state-of-the-art 3D” Resident Evil: Afterlife (alsostarring Jovovich) proving such a hit at the same time last year ($236m outsideNorth America). The Three Musketeers as a Fantasy, S.A.S / Seal, best of the best elite fighting force> We'll see...
